BOARDHOUSE FISHES WELL FOR WILLIE WINDWICK CUP
Some decent fishing weather at last, you can keep your heatwaves, we want cool, cloudy weather and that’s what we had on Sunday, fishing 11am until 5 for the Willie Windwick Cup.
The 24 anglers, who were paired up following a draw, rather than fishing with your regular boat partner, were cautiously optimistic setting off from the site, there was a definite hot spot, out off the Pumphouse, with many boats starting the day there. There was the usual running around the loch looking for alternatives, but it was those who stuck it out in this area who ultimately did very well.
It took a good basket of fish to do it, but Leslie Miller’s 11 for 10lb 6ozs won the day, to take the Willie Windwick Cup. Runner up, Kenny Adam, actually had 2 more fish, but lacked the quality of Leslie’s bag. Others who had an enjoyable day included, Stewy Leslie, who is on fire at the moment and making a bold bid for the title, John Leask and Jim Harcus, who also had the heaviest fish, a cracker, going 1lb 13ozs.
Intermediate lines, especially the Fast Glass, were popular with those doing well, with Madeira, Claret, and Fiery Brown hogs, Wee Westie, Naked Spur and Fiery Brown Merky Midas the scoring flies. Thanks again to Norman Irvine and Leslie Miller for the weigh in duties.
